Greetings Hairballers,
I beg your indulgence for this post is about hockey, the
passion of my soul.
The Calgary Flames traded their long-time captain, Jarome
Iginla, to the Pittsburgh Penguins at 1:30 this morning.
We in the hockey sphere knew a trade was coming. The Flames have had a terrible year and decided
to trade Iggie (Iggy--your choice) to a contender—after he waived his no-trade clause and gave them
a list of acceptable teams.
Went to bed hearing it was going to be Boston and thinking
no, no, no, it has to be Pittsburgh. And
so it is.
Just to give you an idea of how extraordinary he is as a
player, his career goal total for Calgary was 525, the next closest—91.
If I had one millionth of the grace and skill of Jarome
Iginla, I would be an incredible person.
I’ll have to stop bitching about NBC Sports showing Penguins
games, shut up and watch.
Hairballs to the Flames for not doing well enough to keep
their captain.
