THE NON-VOTER

Greetings Hairballers,

In this election season, with participation so vital, the non-voters simply amaze me.  There is voter suppression in so many states with people fighting for their rights.  Yet we see those who choose to sit it out time after time, and then complain about the outcome.

I live in Florida where election screw-ups are legendary.  However, my little corner is relatively easy and I’ve voted by mail for several years now.  You don’t have to bully some poor soul by convincing them that you can’t stand up, just ask and the deed is done.

I do miss going to the polls.  It was always an adventure and good theater, especially if some drama queeking pulled something. 

Here goes:

Gov. Rick Scott refuses to come on stage for the governor’s debate in Florida because his opponent,  Charlie Crist had a fan under his podium.

BONERS AND BREATHERS

Greetings Hairballers,

Apologies for being a day late. 

I, like many others, have gone through the “donut hole,” which I call the rabbit hole for our prescriptions this year.  This hadn’t happened to me before and I now see what a bleak landscape this is for many.  Why, in what we say is the greatest country on earth, do people have to make a choice between food and medicine? Other countries take care of all their citizens.  I’m addressing the seniors here, but the cost of drugs is astronomical for everyone here in the U.S.

hundreds of seniors hit the wall

as the big pharma squeeze is on

for our drug dependent nation

Oldsters are scoring drugs from

people friendly nations

like Canada and Mexico

just to stay alive and afloat

What’s the street value of

Ventolin, Januvia,

Symbicort and Humera?

Not a single back-alley pill in the bunch

The good news is

Viagra is still free

boners or all,

breathing for none

you can get laid

any day of the week

with your erection lasting

less than 4 hours

unless…

you can’t breath or are

going into a diabetic coma

or having a heart attack--

then, you’re screwed

DUMB BASTARD AWARD II

Someone pointed out and rightly so, that the award should have gone to the residents and students at Ave Maria FL and the university.

Actually the owner is a smart bastard.

So, the residents and students will share this award, which they have earned for their stupidity and brainlessness.

DUMB BASTARD AWARD FOR SEPTEMBER 2014

Greeting Hairballers,

It’s the first of the month and time for the DBA.

The Award goes to:

The town of Ave Maria, Florida, (no, I did not make that up), it’s owner, Tom Monaghan, who is also the founder of Dominos Pizza, and Ave Maria University. 

Among other things, the town forbids the use of contraceptives and their sale and favors landowners for legislative positions (some have been given lifetime terms).  Monaghan has been quoted as saying he misses the days when women did not wear pants, kept their mouths shut and did what they were told.
