OMG OF THE WEEK

Greetings Hairballers,

I beg your indulgence for this post is about hockey, the passion of my soul.

The Calgary Flames traded their long-time captain, Jarome Iginla, to the Pittsburgh Penguins at 1:30 this morning.

We in the hockey sphere knew a trade was coming.  The Flames have had a terrible year and decided to trade Iggie (Iggy--your choice) to a contender—after he waived his no-trade clause and gave them a list of acceptable teams.

Went to bed hearing it was going to be Boston and thinking no, no, no, it has to be Pittsburgh.  And so it is.

Just to give you an idea of how extraordinary he is as a player, his career goal total for Calgary was 525, the next closest—91.

If I had one millionth of the grace and skill of Jarome Iginla, I would be an incredible person.

I’ll have to stop bitching about NBC Sports showing Penguins games, shut up and watch.

Hairballs to the Flames for not doing well enough to keep their captain.

EUROPEAN SOCIALISM AND OTHER THINGS THAT GO BUMP IN THE NIGHT©

Greetings Hairballers,

Please to excuse my fractured French bur here we go.

EUROPEAN SOCIALISM AND OTHER THINGS THAT GO BUMP IN THE NIGHT©

Ah, the petty bourgeoise, American style
lemmings of the sound bite or
headline they saw in the checkout line

none of that foreign stuff for them
except when it comes from Wal-Mart
and made in communist China

are they still hiding under a desk?
frightened of the Soviet Union
which disbanded in 1991 (the last year they read a newspaper)

their leaders, the nouveau riche,
threaten price hikes
if they must provide health care

or a proper wage
to employees
struggling just to pay the rent

let us not forget that
their 22-car garage
may soon need a pressure wash

or the house that’s larger
than Windsor Castle
may need new central air on the third floor

the entire violin section of
the New York Philharmonic
couldn’t drip enough sympathy

none of that European socialism
here, unless its
importing hockey players

French champagne
Italian shoes
or fast cars

and yes, they probably know the owners
of the vineyards, shoe shops
and automakers

caching, caching
do I hear the sound of greed
or stupidity?

Hairballs indeed,
f

OMG OF THE WEEK

Greetings Hairballers,

I’m still on the filibuster.  We’ve seen Jimmy Stewart in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington over and over on MSNBC.  That was a movie.  It was fiction.  Yes, it showed how the filibuster used to be but it’s still a movie—not the real thing.

Rand Paul did an old fashioned filibuster recently and compared his endurance to Thurman.  Not his message, his endurance.  Get it right.

After all the hoopla about Paul doing this, I don’t even remember the subject of his filibuster.

Please, TV talking heads, compare real to real.  How stupid do you think we are?

Hairballs,

FILITBUSTER

Happy St. Patrick’s Day Hairballers,

The last couple of weeks I’ve been rather long-winded so tonight, it’s short and shallow.

Filibuster©

         FMHorner

it’s not padding to put in a bra
nor a garment that is sexy and alluring

it’s not a substance to fill in the potholes that bust your car
nor an “as seen on TV” wonder repair for a crack in the driveway

it’s the Senate’s dirty little not-so-secret weapon
guaranteed to stop everything in its tracks

in days past, a Senator stood and ranted ‘til he collapsed
(they were all he’s then)
to prevent legislation from coming to a vote or passing

now with a slight bend of the wrist
and a declaration for a 60-vote majority

a filibuster has occurred—
it takes more time to unwrap a stick of gum

then, of course, they’re exhausted
and take a week off having accomplished nothing

while we, the citizens, are left to worry and wonder
will it? is it? when, were and how?

yes, that’s our tax dollars in action
are we getting our money’s worth?

Hairballs,
f

OMG OF THE WEEK

Greetings Hairballers,

Paul Ryan discussing his budget ideas.  Freudian slip?

Na, he’s finally speaking the truth, but that is a Freudian slip.

"This to us is something that we're not going to give up on, because we're not going to give up on destroying the health care system for the American people." Paul Ryan

This was all over the TV news but I got the quote from Rachel Maddow's blog.  Check it out.

Hairballs to anyone who is buying into this!
