It's been a rough couple of weeks so when I heard the news that someone in Citrus County had been hit with a glob of blue ice, I wrote this little bit of fiction. We've all had days, weeks, maybe even years like this.
I'm watching the Calgary Flames so all is right with the world at this moment. Enjoy.

it all started with
that chunk of blue ice
that fell from a
passing plane,
landing on the top of
my head—
killed instantly
that much I know.
I hovered at the site
awhile
like one of those out
of body experiences
only for real.
always be careful,
Mother cautioned.
suppose I had worn a
helmet, right
like everyone expects
to be hit on the head
with frozen shit
dropping from the heavens.
too late now
I’m floating up here
dead and
wondering what next—
it’s embarrassing.
zilch—no
instructions,
no ground, sky,
nothing
wherever here is—
hello, anybody?
